Marc Jacobs grew up in New York City and began to study design at a young age. In the process of holding prominent creative positions at both Perry Ellis and Louis Vuitton, Jacobs developed his own collections, one of which won him the fashion industry's most prestigious award, the Council of Fashion Designers of America's award for "New Fashion Talent."
